Behind The Windows

A window card gives you a whole new way to put together a card. This window card is included in the CARD January kit from I Am A Scrapaholic and it comes with the nine windows already punched in it. Not only do you get to decorate the front like you would normally do, but you have a great reason to decorate the inside and make it coordinate with the outside of the card.

There are a few interesting things going on on the front of this card:
The first element is that I took this little Rolodex hole punch that I picked up at the office supply store and created a fun edge to my card. This punch punches two holes at a time so you have to figure out the spacing to do a line of holes. I distressed that edge with the Tonic paper distresser. Using that little distresser is different then using a piece of sandpaper, so it is a tool you are going to want to have close at hand. I also used that same distresser on the one edge of my inside paper.
The next thing is, I took my Crackle paint and brushed it on, just here and there. When that was dry, I ran a Distress stamp pad over the edges of the card and over the Crackle paint. I made extra sure to add color to my "distressed" and "punched" card edge. More interest was added when I took the "writing" stamp and added some additional interest with random stamping. Kim Hughes and Cornish Heritage Farms have a new set of word stamps that look like writing so that was a great finishing look to the front.

In this close-up, you can see the Crackle paint, the color of the ink from the stamp pad and the "writing" stamped image over that, plus the neat look of that patterned paper with the Sepia Accents showing through the holes.

For the inside piece, I cut a square from this Collage Press patterend paper to fit the inside of the card. The design for this was accented with the Sepia Gloss Accent. Because of the little tip to the bottle, it is almost like "writing" the liquid and I used the neat design on the paper for my pattern. This inside paper could not be completely attached to the inside of the card so that the back layer of the card is left for your greeting.
