Crepe Paper flowers ala Jenni Bowlin

So...the January scrap kit contained a package of Jenni Bowlin crepe paper ribbon:

For my layout I decided to create a flower from the crepe paper... I first cut a strip of the crepe paper that was approximately 10 inches long. I then cut the strip in half so that my strip was thin. To create the flower you simply valley fold the crepe paper and turn into a circle while pinching it between your thumb and finger.

Once you have the flower circle created use liquid adhesive to hold your flower together; I used Helmar 450 liquid glue. You can also use a stapler to hold the flower together. I then added a button to the center of my flower...

February Kit Canvas!

When I saw these papers online I fell in love and set out to track them down. After emailing with the talented Heidi over at GCD and finding out the nearest store was over an hour for me I was a bit bummed. Then Lynn swooped in with her hero cape and saved the day packing this months kit full of these gorgeous papers. I must say this is my favorite kit EVER!!!!

I also received the Therapy Kit which included this amazing 24x12 canvas. I had never done anything like this before and really do not consider my self to be artsy so I was a bit intimidated...then Lynn said "It really is just a big page"! So off I set to do just a "big page".

I dry brushed paint onto the canvas background. I also printed out my title on cardstock and hand cut it out.

Here are a few details...the flowers in this kit are gorgeous too!

Wow I can't believe how fast 2009 flew by. What a wild and crazy year it was.

I am a little behind in welcoming in the new year but I have to say I am very excited about 2010. We're going to start the year off with papers from GCD Studios Artsy Urban line that was designed by Melody Ross. Design team member Mimi Leinback has been anxious to get her hands on this line. And I took one look at it and fell in love with the same papers she did, so it was an easy choice. This month we are only having one paper line. The plan is to pick back up in February with having paper from mulitple lines.

Also this month we have mini roses from Prima Marketing Inc in the Scrap Kit. I could not decide between yellow and blue so I decided to get both. Honestly, I may have to order more colors but I wanted to see these first. I love just about everything Prima puts out but I'm struggling with wanting all the colors available and what I will actually use. So please help me decide and let me know which colors you want because you know there will be another Prima order -have you seen their new releases!

Also coming this month are Basic Grey's BlingIt rub-ons. I loved these the minute I saw them. My only complaint is that they are one per package -I won't allow myself to hoard mine until I find the 'perfect' LO or card to use it on...I'll just have to buy more if I want to use it more than once. (Now honestly, how many items in your stash do you have that you hoard waiting for the perfect thing to use it on? Please don't tell me I'm the only one.)

Oh and the ideas that are whirling through my brain for the naked pockets from 7 Gypsies! I must say that I love those pockets. I can't tell you how many times I don't leave enough room for journaling or want to journal something a little too personal that these are perfect for.

This month I would like to challenge everyone that receives the Therapy Kit to actually do the project. We haven't had a project for a few months and this one is pretty good sized. It is a 12 x 24 White Canvas from Canvas Concepts. I have a 2 page LO that I wished I could hang on my wall but nothing really does it justice so when I saw this I knew I could recreate it OR do a new one with. Honestly my mother and mother-in-law both expect one (a completed one) for their next gift.

Art Institute Blue Gala Glitz...How Fun!

I am all about the bling and the Art Institute Gala Glitz in this months Therapy Kit is perfect. It has a great texture, it looks amazing and is just so darn fun to play with!

Check out how Lynda used it on this card. She took one of the acrylic snowflakes in the kit and covered it with the art glitter glue and then covered each side with the Gala glitz. She trimmed out the card using some of the kit's pattern paper and a piece of the ribbon from the kit. She cut a hole in the front of the card and suspended the acrylic snowflake using beading elastic so you can't see it.

I also love using this and decided I just wanted to dress up my card. I used one of the corregated diecuts and added a little paint. I then drizzled the glue over it. A sprinkle of glitter and this is what you get!

Corregated Diecuts

How FUN are the corregated diecuts from Donna Salazar? They are SO very versatile! You can leave them as is, paint them, ink them, take off the outer paper and distress them, glitter them... you can even stamp WITH them! (to do that, I'd take off the outer paper to reveal the corregation and then dip lightly in paint, and stamp!)

Debbie did a layout using one of the borders:

She left the border intact and made her own design on the outside to match her layout design!

On my layout, I layered 3 different borders:

I tore off the outer paper layer to reveal the "corregation". I then painted it in a distressed sort of way and added some gold glitter. When I do this to cardboard, I just use my finger to put the paint on!

I also did a card with the star. Perfect for the holiday season! I simply glittered it first.

I hope you will pull out your diecuts from the kit and try something new and fun with them! The sky is the limit! :)

Snow Banner

This months kit has some fabulous goodies in it and my favorite were the acrylic mittens.

I created a banner to hang on my fireplace. I used a heat gun to emboss "snow" on the edges and heated it just enough to curl the edges and create a mitten shape.

I Shimmerz the alphabet and then added Stickled polka dots. It creates texture and dimension. I also added lots of glitter and bling to this project to give it some major holiday shimmer. This also gave me a change to pull some fiber that have been in my stash for years!

The papers in the kit are perfect for this kind of project and just happened to match my family room decor perfectly!

Christmas album 2009

Normally albums are not something I really am into however when Lynn asked if there was anyone willing to step up and create one I decided that I would challenge myself to create a album for our Christmas 2009!
As I dug into the kit, I realized how much fun I was having and really enjoyed creating this album!

Last year we weren't really into the holidays because Dayv was deploying and my mom had just passed away. But this year was VERY different! I was excited from the onset of Christmas decorations and music being played in stores. I loved everyone's lights, festive moods, and even those that decorated before November was officially over! Because this year was very different for us, the excitement continued to grow as it became December, presents were bought, the tree was up, and we were all humming to Christmas music.

Doing this album brought me just joy and I cannot wait to put photos in it really soon!
I used all of the December kit {there is another page that will just hold journaling with nothing else on it so I didn't photograph that one} and loved each element!

I just went basic with this and really love how it turned out!
Remember to not get bogged down by creating an album and just remember to enjoy the process along the way! Keeping it simple means I can add elements to the album but it is my photos and my journaling that will tell the story!

Holiday traditions

There are certain things that are done this time of the year that really help to make it feel like the holidays....

In our family, there are a few holiday traditions that I thought were worth documenting...so I used this great tree album that Lynn is offering this month and created this family traditions mini-album:

Each year the girls write a letter to Santa and place it within this ornament that is on our tree...we then mail them off...

we head out to the tree farm to cut down the perfect tree each year:

my husband still has his train from when he was young and sets it up to run under and around the tree:

and who could forget our favorite ornaments and the angel that rests on the top:

The December kit...

The December kit is filled to the top with wonderful treasures that will allow you to create, create, create. Included in the kit are these wonderful Making Memories Paper Shreds that can be used for so many different things. I decided to cut apart the strip and use a few of the words on some cards. The strip has the following words: love, dream, wish, and enjoy...

For my first card I created a flower from a sheet of the 7 gypsies pattern paper in the kit. I cut two circles from the paper and then cut slits to the center of the circle. I used a paintbrush to curl the edges of the petals inward. I repeated this for my smaller flower using the reverse side of the pattern paper. I then placed the smaller flower inside the larger flower. I used some of the Graphic 45 pattern paper to cover my card front and added one of the "love" words cut from the shreds for my sentiment on my card:

For my next card I decided to create a scene using the reindeer ribbon that was also in the kit... I created a house using some of the Making Memories pattern paper....I chalked the night sky...added the reindeer...and used the "wish" shred for part of my sentiment...I created the "holiday" one with a scrap piece of paper. I added some extra sparkle with some chunky glitter on my rooftop and on places where the snow may have landed...

I think you'll agree that these shreds can be used for a LOT of different things...

Ok, seriously. Can ya get enough of SPRITZES??? I know I can't! I love them! They're so versatile. SO many cool things you can do with them, and the Smooch Spritz included in the GORGEOUSLY YUMMY December kit is AWESOME! I really enjoyed using it, and now NEED every color! Our Visiting Therapist, Kim Holmes and I put together a few ideas for you. Kim did a FABULOUS tutorial and I'm SO happy to share it with you!

I created my Christmas Tree using a fun and easy masking technique! You can get the same effect by following the steps below.

Step #1 – Place newspaper down on your surface. Set pizza box or other disposable container on top of newspaper. Sides will help contain any possible overspray.

Step #2 – Place item to be misted inside box and place mask where desired. I used my acrylic shape as my mask – but you could choose to use anything including paper, aluminum foil, a template or a diecut.

Step #3 – Shake spritz well.

Step #4 – Spray a light coat. Evaluate coverage. Continue to spray in light coats, evaluating coverage in between until desired effect is achieved.

Step #5 – Carefully remove mask. I then ran my acrylic shape under the water to clean. If a paper mask was used, set aside to dry or dispose of.

Step #6 – Allow paper to dry for approximately 15 minutes before completing layout.

That’s all there was to it! I found the Smootch Spritz to be easy to spray, almost drip and mess free, and the color was brilliant! All in all, a wonderful product!

WOW! Love the project and that girl can write a mean tutorial! (you know, "mean" in a good way! :D)

I chose to do a card. I used THIS tutorial by our friend, the fabulous Lisa Gregory! Those of you who know me KNEW it wouldn't be long before you saw me try one of these little BEAUTIES! ;)

First, let me point out my Bo Bunny chipboard frame, from the September kit. I painted it a deep red, then used crackle medium on top. I then "painted" in the cracks with DRY copper Perfect Pearls.

For my flower I used a natural (non bleached) coffee filter and a Martha Stewart poinsettia leaf template, found HERE. I spritzed it lightly with the Smooch Spritz and then twisted each petal. I wanted some of the natural color to show as well.

I wanted to jump on Debbie's bandwagon and talk to ya about the
cool and hip Maya Road Sheers in this month's kit.
You know what I like best about them?
Using them for something they aren't "normally" used for!
That's right, you know me...
I love to take normal things and use them for something else!
And the coolest part? What I do with them isn't rocket science! Ha.
Anyone can do what I do cause I don't have the knack of stepping out of the box,
but I can use something differently and so can you!

Here you can see I just used it as an added embellishment to the other
cool stuff in the kit. I wanted to use it as a journaling tag, but use the elements in the kit
for my journaling up on top.

This one I just cut, cause I wanted to savor all the Sheers I had!
I used it as a frame for the ticket in the kit here and just stapled it all
on the page!

Remember getting out of our boxes doesn't mean coming up with the latest and greatest!
It just means that you can do what you do with what you go!
Now go get those Sheers and rock them out!

Maya Road rocks the Flash Card Sheers!

I love these little flash cards that Maya Road puts out - they are so versatile and work so well on a page or a card. For mine I used the card as a palette for layering even more of the goodies Lynn put in our kit this month. Most of them contain a sentiment which can serve as the sentiment on your card or to express a sentiment you wish to add as your journaling tag. Just can't say enough good things about this kit this month. Check out the paper leaves and little pumpkin! Then add the chipboard leaves which I rubbed with some metallic rub I have had around here forever. Even the title Fall is a My Little Bicycle Felt Sticker. Making Memories Vintage Findings kit

What a fun little kit! It's chock full of bits and pieces to create with! On this layout, the glittery branches, leaves, peacock teal piece of paper, pumpkin, metallic thread and kraft journal paper with ribbon are all from the kit! I took out the ribbons from the kraft journal paper and replaced the red ribbon with the orange lace from the November kit. I also stitched around the kraft journal paper with the metallic thread from the MM vintage findings kit.

I know that you will have alot of fun coming up with creative uses for each little piece!

...and fall is in the air

I want to point out that the Design Team picked out the papers this month, so please be sure to let them know how much you like them. I am so pleased with how the kit has turned out and want to thank them for picking such great papers. The kit is perfect for fall and Thanksgiving layouts. And our Visiting Therapist Nicole Wise has shown us that it's great for school picture layouts as well.

First I want to say as many of you know that I am not a big sticker person but I am finding that I love love love the word fetti type of stickers. And the Autumn Bliss stickers from My Little Yellow Bicycle are right up there at the top of my favorites list. Along with that are the felt stickers from MLYB. They are beautiful!

Oh and I am so in love with the new Maya Road items. Wait until you see them in real life -so much better than images from the internet. Everything is in full packages so you'll have plenty to use for this month and the next few.

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving. And be sure to let loved ones know that a subscription from I AM A Scrapaholic makes a great holiday gift.

Love that Grungeboard!

Debbie and I are in agreement that this Grungeboard stuff is FAB U LOUS! We both had a wonderful time experimenting. It's so versitile and there are just SO many things you can do with it! The sky really is the limit. You can paint it, ink it, cover it with paper, cut it and give it texture with a cuttlebug...

Here is Debbie's project, and her description of what she did... Didn't she do a lovely job? Love those leaves! and I just LOVE the perfect pearl accent on the quillen flowers!

"I cut the leaves, the red border and the title with my cuttlebug cutting folders - then painted them with the smooches (for the leaves this was the only treatment they got) and then either painted or sprinkled the pearls over the paint. Then I painted some of the pearls on my paper flowers (in the kit)"

...and here is my project

I made this cute little gift box. I simply took a 6x6" piece of the red cardstock from the kit and folded it at 2" on each of the 4 edges, then folded each corner on the diagonal. Pull it in toward the middle and it forms this box! I then punched a small hole in each corner and tied it up with the black cord from the kit. Now, I could have (and thought about it) decorated each outside panel, but I decided to keep it simple so you could see what it looks like. I think it will be the perfect little box for a few pieces of candy, and it would be really easy to make in any theme!

Here is a picture from the top so you can see what it looks like on the inside:

Then I made a flower with the grungeboard, covered it with paper from the kit (and adhered with mod podge)and attached it to the top of the box with Ranger glossy accents.

Well I'm probably a little overly cautious with my computer about getting virus's but I screen what comes in my email maybe too much. I didn't recognize Sandi's email address so I was delayed in getting her MM Journaling Notebook paper card until yesterday. So I'm making a special post just for her and rightfully so. Sandi did an awesome job on this card - it's just beautiful! The vine flourish is the transparency from the Tim Holtz mask packaging - she just cut it out and attached it with Ranger Glossy accents. Her 6 year old daughter was the one who thought of lacing the cord through the notebook paper edge and even threaded it for her! The ribbon is from this month's awesome kit and the flower spray is from last month's kit. Look at her amazing card!Thanks again for stopping in!

Journaling Notebook papers - October Kit!

The October kit was so jam packed with wonderful embellishments and these journaling notebook pages were just the best! Lynda, Sandi and I all made projects with them to show off and I have one posted on the homepage as well. I love these - you can journal on them, use them for a card base as Lynda did or as a piece of patterned paper to embellish as I did. Lynda used the entire card as a card cutting her cardstock to the same size as the jounaling page, then added her embellishments, painted the little Maya Road chipboard letters black and wow- instant awesome card!

On mine I used the notebook journaling page, laced through the notebook edge and added a little card from last month's kit! We will add Sandi's project tomorrow. I somehow deleted it from my inbox and will upload as soon as I get it. If you haven't already gotten this kit you better jump on it. It was spectacular!

One embellishment.....three different looks

The October Therapy kit has the awesome Magic Mesh in it...and just look at the creative ways the team used this awesome product on their projects:

Mimi used a thin strip of the mesh on her card for an awesome dramatic effect....

and Elizabeth ran the entire piece down the middle of her layout in a vertical direction; layering it on top of her pattern paper....

and finally....I used my entire piece in a horizontal direction in the center of my layout, then I layered pattern paper on top of the mesh and emphasized the edges with strips of paper that I border punched...

Isn't that amazing...how a single embellishment can be used in so many different ways to get so many different looks....

I hope you will share with us the things you create using the Magic Mesh in your October kit!!!

Perserving those wonderful memories!

You know product isn't limited to just paper anymore!
There are SO many cool and wonderful things that are in this hobby to use and
scrap with that I am always amazed!

I'd like to share in another cool gadget called a memory capsule.
That's right!
It's just this little piece of plastic and it's for holding some serious memories!

Like this from Lynda.
She created a beautiful card and used her memory capsule to save the cherished sand and shells she got from a vacation that her and her family took!

What a great way to preserve a memory of her precious vacation!

And then there is a lil' something from Sandi!
Amazingly enough, she took it and ran with her mad altering skills and creating an
entire project from this lil' memory capsule!

Isn't this beautiful! She really got out of the box with her thinking and created
a wonderful keepsake that's a Christmas pin!

In Sandi's words:

I made a Christmas pin by printing a clip art image, adding glitter as "snow" and gluing the print art on the back of the memory capsule. I then trimmed it all out with Ranger metallic tape. I had one Christmas earring and took the ribbon and bell off of it, and added it to the bottom of the memory capsule. I used a pin finding from a package of Prima flowers.

Can you imagine the possibilities with this lil' ole' tiny piece of plastic?
Who would of thought!
But the possibilities are truly endless!!!

One of the fun things about scrapbooking is seeing all the different creative ideas! It always amazes me how differently the design team can use an item without consulting each other about it at all!

Today we wanted to showcase the Tim Holtz "spinner". They are the cutest little things and a fun item to add detail to any project!

Cosmo Cricket Spinners!

Check out these fun Cosmo Cricket spinners in the IAAS Kit this month! These are such a fun and versatile embellishment. It makes for a totally fun and interactive layout that the kids will just love to check out.

Check out how Lynda trimmed around her spinner to make it circular in this fabulous layout. She then matted it for that little extra pop of color. What a great idea!

In my layout I used it as is and incorporated it almost as if it was another photo on the layout, it really adds a lot of dimension to the design.

Since it's October...

How about a Mask?

I used this great Tim Holtz mask from the October kit for a couple of projects.

First, a card:

I want to give you a couple of tips:
1) the mask worked better for me with the addition of a little spray adhesive
2) I tried several methods (inking, painting), but found spray mists to work best

For my card, I masked a piece of flat white paper and sprayed with Maya mist. I then cut out the masked image in a circle to add to my card.

and a layout:

I wanted a whole page effect, even though the mask is a mini, so I planned approximately where I wanted the picture to go and then stuck the mask down and sprayed. I wanted a less perfect coverage of the mist. Again, I used Maya mist, because that's what I have that matches this month's kit! :)

If you take note of the green leaves, I used the mask for them too, spraying with Tattered Angels glimmer mist, and then cut them out. That was an easy way to use the mask for an embellishment with dimension.

It really took a bit of trial and error working with this, but I enjoyed what I created in the end!

This stamp...

is not just for journaling...

The October Addict kit contains this fabulous Teresa Collins Sports Edition calendar stamp that is so fun and versatile...

of course you could use it on your layouts to record the date of the event that you are scrapbooking about....I thought I would show you another idea that I had for this stamp; a card!

You'll need to gather a few supplies:

you'll need an acrylic block; this is a cling mount stamp, so it just sticks to the acrylic for easy use, placement and cleanup! You'll need some ink...I love Memento and Versafine inks... You'll also need cardstock for your card and I used a large scallop circle punch.

I stared out by trimming a piece of kraft cardstock to fit the front of my card. I then inked my image with Versafine ink and stamped it all over my cardstock piece....notice how I put an extra piece of paper behind my project so I could stamp off the page...helps with keeping things clean and giving your card a random image look.

I then trimmed a a piece of black cardstock to the exact card front size and then trimmed down my stamped sheet to fit on top of it. I stamped the image one additional time on a scrap piece of the same kraft cardstock. I cut out this stamped image. I punched out the scalloped circle from black cardstock and mounted the cut out stamped image to the top of it. I used some foam tape to pop up my layered image from the card. I added the sentiment (which was printed onto the same kraft cardstock) to the card; inking the edges of it and my entire card.
I finished the card off by writing the month, year, and circling the date of the birthday on the image. I then added some additional random red circles on some of the background stamped images as well.....

as you can see....this stamp can be used for more than just your scrapbook pages...it would totally make a great holiday card stamp too...done with Christmas circled on the image...and a cute No Peeking type of sentiment....

I hope you'll be inspired to look at this stamp in a whole new way...

Tim Holtz Film Strips

Hi! Today Mimi and I (Debbie) would like to show you a couple of ways to use the cute little film strip in the October kit. Tim Holtz made this adorable little strip and as you can see Mimi used hers for a little border to highlight the patterned paper. I printed out tiny little pictures and then stuck them behind the film strip to make a full strip of little pictures of my little Kadin. Lynn always includes so may awesome little embelishments in her kits that it's just fun trying to use all of them. As you can see both Mimi and I used the little Jenni Bowlin Bingo cards - I just love how small they are - I get intimidated with the larger ones! We also both used the little Maya Road chipboard alphabet - you just paint it to whatever color you want - love that! Better get you a kit before she runs out. There are alot of papers that can go either full on sports or lean to the elegant when you add some of the unbelievably beautiful ribbon in the kit!

Meshing it all together!!!

Hey there! It's Elizabeth and today I am talking about meshing it all together!
This kit has SO many wonderful elements, I simply love how you can play around
and put things together by mixing and matching!
I got to play around with some mesh in this months kit.
This time around though, I wanted to keep the layout pretty simple so I used it as
another layer like a piece of paper and added it to my layout.
This stuff is cool cause you can use it as easily as I did, or cut it up and use it too!
There is a sticky back to it so it adheres nicely but will come up if you want to move it
as well! I liked working with this and would love a bunch of colors!
I also used a bunch of other kit elements on this layout as well.

Since this layout is pretty special to me, all of the pretty things in the kit
helped create a beautiful page about my mom!

I used the MM journaling tags in a not so journaling way! I made them a focal point
in my layout by layering those as well and then adding elements on top of them
as well as using them for journaling. What is really cool about these tags is that
you don't have to use them for the normal journaling tag, you can use them for
just about anything as an accent and more!

Then I used the beautiful Prima Quillen Gallery Roses they are so beautiful and
very easy to work with! They will bend and move around any way you want them to lay!
Prima has really set the bar with their beautiful new flowers, I love them!

You can take this kit and really make it your own! Each element builds upon one another
to create a beautiful kit and you can mesh together!

Hi, I'm Debbie, one of the members of the Design Team here to show off some of the September kit. The kit this month was filled with some wonderful embellishments! Chipboard, flowers, ribbon, and these wonderful stitching flourishes by Prima. And do you see the leaves? That's a ribbon thread - you just cut them off as you need them. Love how sewing adds just that something to a page. And then there were these tags that could even be used for your title. Here are two pages I did using several of the goodies in the September kit. That together with these pretty papers made this kit so easy to work with. I think I used every single scrap!

I was so excited to try the Bazzill In Stitch'z templates! I know they will be awesome for cards, but I wanted to use them on a layout. I LOVE the effect! I will tell you that I did the actual stitching while watching TV over a couple of nights... it does take a little more time, but I think it is SO worth the effort! I'm sure you will love them on any project you try them on! =)

This month's kit is fabulous. I love every bit of it. I was especially drawn to the Marks Paper Company papers. I have worked with them quite a bit but the pop of black Lynn included in the kit looks so great with the English Garden Collection. The black embellishments really make the papers shine...you can't help but love this kit!

The Scrap kit this month is full of delish pattern papers that will make you want to scrap!! The Teresa Collins Friendship collection papers are lush with blue and black and the Marks Paper Company English Garden papers are rich with greens and purples... look at this...

Do you ever look at paper and think immediately that you know what photo you want to use with a particular piece? I sure did this month... the Gravel walk/Lavender paper from Marks Paper Company was the piece that I looked at and ran straight to my printer to get the right shot... look at this paper:

and this was the photo that I knew would be the perfect match for this wonderful pattern:

it was almost as if my daughters shirt was made to go with this paper!

this particular layout, I used every single one of them

THE FABULOUS AUGUST KIT!

This kit was awesome (Lynns always are!)! There are always so many embellishments in them - almost more than you can use on the paper in the kit. To show off some of the chipboard diecuts I made these cards. On the second one I added one of the little metal tags too. They are SO cute!

With the decorative edges to these papers it was easy to make lacy borders along my first card.
And these are only a few of the embellishments in the kit - there are many more - watch for more from the DT to show them all off.

I love to mix and match!
Every one of my layouts has something that has been
mixed up from different manufactures, colors, designs, or just
about anything I can think of to create what I call a great page!
This month's kit allowed me to mix and match a lot!

I really enjoyed
doing that with the kit because it offered up so many different colors
to be able to do just that!
I took each element from the kit and used it on this layout.
I mixed colors that don't normally go together and put them together!
Never be afraid to mix and match colors!
You just never know what you'll get!

The therapy kit this month contains these cute My Little Yellow Bicycle Say What Clear Calendar Journaling Cuts...these are super fun pieces that can add so much to your page.

I decided to use the circle one to create this fun centerpiece for my page...I added the cut to a piece of cardstock that was cut into a cirlce shape exactly the same size as the spot. To adhere my clear shape I used Helmar Craft Glue; it dries super clear! I then cut the larger scallop circle using my Cricut and mounted the circle to the center. I used an American Crafts Slick Writer to do my journaling. I used an orange sharpie to color in the numbers I selected (I colored on the backside so it was lighter from the front).

for my next layout, I also backed the clear piece with cardstock (using the same Helmar adhesive), but this time I used rubons for my journaling. I cut the flowers from one piece of the My Little Yellow bicycle pattern paper; the strips are cut from the same paper; the opposite side. I added the white flourish sticker from my stash (American Crafts).

these calendar clear cut journaling pieces are fabulous on layouts and can be really fun as part of your overall layout design!

This months kit at IAAS is what I call pattern paper perfection. With a mixture of My Little Yellow Bicycle Traveler and Sassafras Lass Vintage Yummy you can't help but get a pretty yet fun and trendy product!

We are so excited to be trying something new this month. You'll notice it is basically 2 kits in 1. Featuring papers from My Little Yellow Bicycle's Traveler line and Sassafras Lass's Yummy Vintage line. Now I'm sure some can combined these two lines on the same LO, however the intention was to have a 2 in 1 kit. There are some great embellishments included.

Love, love, love the Storyteller alphabet stickers from Webster's Pages. The font is great! And I love that there are 2 sizes and multiple colors. Another of my favorite items is the Center Kisses from Prima Marketing. Love that there are 3 shades and plenty in a package. Please note that each color is bundled together and secured with a piece of tape and the intention is to separate them to use them. Have fun with these and mix the colors up for more depth.

The Addict Kit is full of textures/finishes that will work with either paper line. The Little Pill kit this month has 3 Bazzill Basics In Stitchz templates that can be used with the memory thread.

Another of my favorite items this month (okay I love all the items but I have to admit to having a few favorites) is the Calendar Journaling Clear Cuts from MLYB. NOTE that there is a liner on each one and it's hard to see. Just take an adhesive eraser to the top of it and it'll come off very easy. Because they are clear you can use them right on top a photo, back it with paper of your choice, or use as is. The vines from Prima are amazing!!! So easy to use. They bend easy, open up, and even cut easy to break up if you want.

In this month's Therapy kit, there is a package of photo easel backs. I wanted to demonstrate a little something you could use them for. Also, a fun way to use up some of your scraps! I used the scraps from this month's kit to create a little... plaque, I guess you could call it. I used a piece of cardboard from the May Little Pill kit and did a paper piecing with my July kit scraps! I thought little pink raindrops were the perfect touch for all the colors of MY rainbow! ;) Then I simply attached the easel back to the cardboard! Something like this would make a cute going away gift for someone, or a gift for a new baby's room. The sky's the limit! Be creative and have fun!

This month's addict kit features 7 Gypsies Vintage Ephemera. Since the predominant colors are red, white, and blue, I was inspired to create a mini.

I started out by arranging the ephemera cards in the order I wanted them.
I added some Jenni Bowlin die cut mini papers - one as a pages in the album. another as a frame. (See, you can use them for more than just journaling!) Once I liked the look, I used my Bind It All, but you could easily punch holes and bind with ribbon.

I used some goodies from last month's IAAS kit and a few from my stash to embellish and ta-da!

Fun with Flair Designs Summer Time Fantastic Plastic

This month's kit contains these fun Fantasic Plastic pieces from Flair Designs. I sat for a while thinking of the best way to showcase them and here are some ideas and samples that I created.

These plastic pieces are sticky backed, so using glitter was an obvious choice...so I picked up the sun and two shades of Martha Stewart glitter and got busy:

next I thought I would try using some Smooch....I then used some clear embossing powder to seal the letters:

I also used alcohol inks to color the plastic:

the final idea I had was to use a sharpie marker...so first I used my white sharpie to color the flower in...then followed it up with a blue sharpie along the edge:

Playing with Core'dinations and the July Kit

This kit is just awesome! Packed full of all kinds of wonderful goodies - the Basic Grey Lime Rickey that is just so bright and fun, awesome tags, flowers and gorgeous ribbon. And on top of that my favorite product - "Core'dinations". Since I am a part of their design team as well I just wanted to tell you a little about using these papers. You can sand them, distress them, emboss them and do just about anything with them and they rock! On this card (sketch by Card Patterns) I used the Whitewash Orange and embossed it with my Cuttlebug embossing machine and then sanded over it to show the core color. The different Core'dinations Whitewash, Black Magic and Chocolate Box all have either white, black or brown on the top and a color core so that you can sand them down to show the underlying color - the bonus is when you open the card the inside is the core color that you can stamp, write or on create on again. The Luxe journaling card was perfect behind my core to use just like patterned paper and the little bird from the Lime Rickey is so darn cute I want to use it on everything. Enjoy your kit - I am! I included a close up so you can see how the core comes through - the darker the core color the more it shows through.

Celebrate Summer with Basic Grey Lime Rickey. This kit is fun and colorful! I can't believe how much orange there is in it -I'm hoping that will bring the sunshine our way this month. Along with Basic Grey you will also find items from Webster's Pages, Bo Bunny, Flair Designs, Prima Marketing, 7Gypsies, Pebbles inc, Robin's Nest, Jenni Bowlin, Making Memories, and Daisy Bucket.

Have you seen the new Fantastic Plastic shapes from Flair Designs? They are so easy to use and are already to adhere to your project as is or can be altered. Watch to see what the design team does with them. And what a wonderful surprise the Pebbles inc. Chips are! 70 pieces in each package. A variety of shapes. Some glittered and some not. AND the glitter is not messy.

Speaking of glitter, the Galaxy Stars from Prima Marketing are a very cool embellishment with so many possibilities. Again, these are not messy. You can use them as they are and pose them however you'd like or you can cut them and use them in multiple places.
`
Bo Bunny has come out with some cute packages of Buttons and Bling. And the flower packages are great. The flowers are different shapes which is really nice because sometimes it's nice to have coordinating flowers that are not all the same shape.
`
This month the project is very easy. You can make a 5x7" mini LO and then attach one of the photo easel to the back and display it. I reccomend spraying the finished project with a sealant. I plan to make a set of 5 for my mother -each one will have a photo of the grandkids together spanning the last 5 years. She'll love it and it will be so quick and easy for me to complete.

The June Scrap kit contains papers that are PERFECT for black and white photos. I mean...look at the colors...the patterns...those flowers....gotta love this Chatterbox!!!!

and now here is the layout that I created using a black and white photo of my daughter in her dance recital costume. I decided to use a butterfly chipboard tag from the Addict kit; applied some letter rubons to it to spell out my title...I added some paint to the yellow cardstock and then put my quote rubon over that so it really pops off the page... I decided to create a flower chain using the Prima Devine stems and flowers together.

I am so loving these colors together....hope you'll drop by the gallery to see the other creations the design team has made with the kits and share your projects with us!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's day everyone!!!
Beautiful day to remember why we love our Fathers,
our husbands, our son's, our brothers,
and any important male in your family.
It is also a good day to put behind,
what you were so upset about and give them a call.

I have several things to share, my first being a layout that celebrates a Father's and son's relationship, called father's hand. I think some of you may have seen it in our gallery, using our June kit, but I wanted to share it in celebration of this wonderful day!

The 2nd is a fun layout from this past year when we visited my inlaws in Florida and went to the Lion Safari.
I am more than a bit scared of birds,
so take the photo for what it is worth.

I have just loved this kit this month, super beautiful colors and fun summery colors.

I recently had someone send me some of her designs that she created with our May kit and thought you might enjoy a quick refresher of how fun that May kit could be for some of these family gatherings. They are so much fun! I love what Annie did with all of the fun May products! Pull out your stash girls and get going! 4th of July is right around the corner! Gotta love Glimmer Mist!

This month's Therapy kit includes a bottle of Glimmer Mist in Midnight Blue and a package of Glimmer Screens. Glimmer Mist is a bottle of colored liquid that mists when sprayed and leaves a shimmer on surfaces when it dries. The screens are essentially masks, that will leave the negative of an image.
So how do you use them?
Well, get ready to get artsy and have some fun!!

Start off by covering your work surface, since the mist will land beyond your page. (It's easy to clean up, though, since it's water soluble.)
Choose which screen you want and decide where you want to place your image.
I used a repositionable adhesive to secure my screen to the page.
Then you spray! How close you spray toward the paper determines how large the droplets are. Spraying close to your paper gives you large drops that add a spattered effect to the color.
Once sprayed, set the page aside to dry. It dries rather quickly, but I've been known to dab mine with a paper towel or give a quick blast with my heat gun. (Just be sure to take the screens off first - you don't want to warp them!)

Once dry, you can design and embellish your page as desired!

June Kit

This month's kit is just so much fun! The yellow, browns and turquoise mix is awesome and for me it just spelled girly pages but I found plenty in the kit to create a "guy" page too! Totally in love with the combo of colors with these Chatterbox papers and the new prima flowers are just too yummy. The little tags in the kit were just perfect to work into my title. These are my little grandson's with their Dad after a day at golf camp. I love these IAAS kits - they always have so many cool embellisments and it makes the pages and the cards just seem to fall together. Hope you enjoy your kit as much as I have - thanks, Debbie

I don't know about you but everywhere I look these days
everything is yellow! This year the color is in fashion
and is practically everywhere you look!
I for one am glad because it is my all time favorite color!!!
It's a fun, bright, and cheery color and goes really well with
a variety of color palette too!

So you can imagine when I opened up my kit for this month
{which by the way is swingin'!} with all that
yellow
that I had to start diggin' in straight away!

The colors the Lynn chose to use against the yellow is amazing!
It reminds me of a yellow daisy blowing in the wind, all fresh and beautiful!
I had to create a layout about my daughter Alyssa and how much she's growing.
But in truth, this layout is really about myself.
As she grows, I realize I to must grow and allow her the freedom to fly.
I was inspired by the whimsical elements of the kit and wanted
to incorporate them into this layout.

So when you open up your kit this month and see the yummy colors,
I hope that it inspires you like it did for me!

This kit is Fabulous! It's got shabby chic and glitter together -and I love the way they work together. We are featuring 8 sheets from Chatterbox's Fabulous line. Six sheets are double sided and there are two specialty sheets. This line is great for a variety of layouts and cards. The colors are great for Father's Day cards or layouts. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with this paper when it arrived and I've had to wait almost 2 months to reveal it. Also in the Scrap Kit are more Thickers from American Crafts. Okay, I admit I am becoming an American Crafts Thickers junkie. I love the variety of fonts and textures. And there is a ton of Prima Marketing Inc. goodies as well.
~
I have to say that this month's Addict Kit is one of my favorites. Love love love the coordinating embellishments from Chatterbox. I have a soft spot for felt items. And the tags are double-sided. But even greater than that is the sheet from Crafty Secrets. Okay, I admit I picked this just for the ruler at the bottom of the sheet - here look at the sheet. But I am so happy with the others. And they work with so many different papers and what you don't use this month will work great with future kits. (wink, wink) Also, the metallic Dew Drops are just too cool. I've always loved Dew Drops, they are so easy to use so many different ways. Okay, now let me give a big Thank You to Beth Root for pointing me in the direction of my favorite item. The Slide Mailers!!! When she first told me about them I thought interesting. I looked at them online. But man alive they are wicked cute! I cannot wait to alter one for DH for Father's Day. The double is the perfect size for his desk at work. These are a cute, simple, fast project to alter. And they don't use up that much product. If you want just the Slide Mailers let either me or Beth know and we'll hook you up.

And the Therapy Kit has an item I have been waiting almost a year for. The 7Gypsies Word Paperclips. Oh, think of all the possibilities!!! There are 27 different words, easy to use on any theme. Tattered Angels Glitter Mist is always a cool thing as far as I'm concerned. I want every color...but that's another story. The screens are gorgeous. And there's even a bling from Basic Grey!

Okay, I've probably gushed way too much. But there were just too many exciting things in the kits this month. I expect to have the Little Pill kits up within the next day or so.

Making Pins with your Scrapbooking tools and supplies

This month our project was inspired by design team member Sandi Peiffer. In the past she has created jewelry with her scrapbooking items and this month seemed like the perfect time to encourage everyone to give it a try.
~
As you can see the design team has come up with several different pins using the May kits. The pin back can be adhered directly to an object such as a tag or a flower using Zip Dry or another liquid adhesive. I happen to love Zip Dry and use it often so that is why I mention it.
~
The Therapy Kit includes 5 chipboard shapes to use as the backing to your pendants, however they are not necessary.
~

1. Begin by creating a ruffle with the butterfly twill. You can do this by using a running stitch through the length of twill. Tie off and stitch the ends together. Arrange ruffles the way you want them.

2. Adhere scalloped sheer on top of ruffled twill.

3. Layer Primas on top of sheer.

4. Add metal tag as embellishment.

5. Glue the pin closure on the back side.

It's graduation time!

I don't always know a graduate, so it was exciting this year to need a "Congratulations" card!

I wanted to show you a little something you can do with the embossed cardstock and the Maya Road journaling tags. I also used some cardboard and flowers from the Little Pill 2 kit. Just made a simple card, using the cardboard on the edge and leaving the front part of the card short so it shows the cardboard. I hope you can see that in the pics! I used StazOn ink for the sentiment. I also used some of the Bazzill Just the Edges and a Jenni Bowlin rhinestone button!

Happy Sunday to everyone! This kit has been so much fun - you have to have seen all the awesome work everyone has done with it! For some reason I'm drawn to making cards with some of it. There were so many little extra goodies that were perfect for making them. Here I've made a card and used one of the chipboard buttons that were in my kit. For this one I just added a circular rub-on and then threaded my ribbon through it! The Bazzill borders make an easy accent and the label was great for putting my title on.

I love the color, shapes, and fun you can have with these strips!

What I created with this strips this month was accents.
These strips can be used for about anything and have
anything done to them or with them as well!
They make a project pop!

With this layout I used them as accents to tie the page in.
I even cut one apart and used it as a main focus for the
number 13.
I mixed and matched them on my page as well to create texture.

I love how they are pre-cut so there isn't any fuss with them either!
They come in every color imaginable too!
I cannot wait to see what you do with your Bazzill strips in this month's kit!

This kit just screams SUMMERTIME to me. Part of summer is patriotic holidays! Memorial Day and Independence Day. I find that if I decorate before Memorial Day, then it's done and I can leave it up until the middle of July! LOL Since one of the patterned papers is stars, I decided to make a decor item for the summer. I found a free vintage postcard image online and printed it out, used a piece of the corregated cardboard from the Little Pill #2 kit and made a wallhanging! All the trims and flower are also from Little Pill #2... can I tell you how much I LOVE Little Pill #2??!?!!! You should RUN, not walk, to order it if you don't have it!!! The flourishes are Bazzill "Just the Edges" borders from the kit.

May Kit Goodies

Made some cards to show off some of the goodies there are in the May kit as well as the papers. The flowers are yummy and it has the adorable tags, ribbon and letters. It makes it so easy to create. These cards just seemed to make themselves.

The May Scrap kit contains a package of Bazzill just the edges in this delish red color called kisses...

For my layout, I decided to use the entire piece of the Jenni Bowlin Farmers Wife Collection Flour Sack paper as my base....it was perfect for these pictures of my daughter all dressed up at the museum. I added some of the included red bazzill cardstock. I decided to cut apart one of the Just The Edges pieces and spread it out across my layout... so you can see it on both sides of my photographs and the remaining two pieces were used on either side of my title square.

These just the edges pieces are awesome for accents on a page and because of their size; they can be used in so many different ways!

Yep, I have found it! The perfect embellishment! The Jenni Bowlin Chipboard buttons that come in this kit are way to darn cute, they go with everything and make it easy to embellish.

I just love the little touch they add to every project! The kit this month is a fabulous one as usual but you will be able to use these buttons well after everything is gone so snatch this one quick!

Just one more!

I'm still enjoying all the goodies and paper in this April kit! One more little card to share with you. In my kit I had a piece of Bazzill embossed cardstock. I chalked the embossing lightly and then used it on my card. I added one of the diecut pieces for my title - some the ribbon and flowers and here it is!

May 2009 Kit

With Mother's Day and Memorial Day this month, this kit couldn't be more perfect. I did not start out to create a red, white, and blue kit. It's just how it came together.
~
This month there are 3 Little Pill Kits and 3 additional Paper Packs to go along with the monthly kits. The quantities are very limited and they are selling very fast, so I encourage you not to hesitate if you see something want.
~
I would like to note that the patterned paper this month is a lightweight paper. It's wonderful paper and easy to design with, however it is not as forgiving as a heavier weight paper. This is one time I personally will think a little longer before applying adhesive. Of course it will not stop me from using it! If you use liquid adhesive I recommend using it lightly or not at all. For example, I would normally use Zipdry lightly to adhere the Bazzill Just the Edges pieces to my layouts. But with lightweight paper I have learned that a glue stick or even staples are better.
~
Now aren't the Milk Cap Chipboard Buttons the coolest! The minute I saw them I had to have them. Let me say they proved to be worth the wait. And I love, love, love the Rainboot Thickers!!! The font is great and the texture/finish just make it even better. I am interested to here what items you are most looking forward from this kit.

Love these papers

I have to say that I love the papers in the April kit...Crate really has a way of giving you awesome blends of color and texture that really lend themselves to altered projects.

I created this tissue box holder for my daughters teacher as an end of the school year gift....(I know I'm early, but now I have one done)

The box is from Creative Imaginations. I used a regular glue stick as my adhesive for most of the box. I sanded the edges along each corner to expose the white core of the pattern paper on the box. I used some of the flowers from the kit on the lid and some of the glitter diecuts on the sides of the box.

I am sure she will love the gift and will think of my daughter often as this sits on her desk for years to come.

I chose to accent her in polka dots,
using last month's add on feature, Smooches.

Scrap those older photos my friends,
don't leave them under the bed in an old box.
Yes, they are special treasure and you don't want them ruined,
but if no one ever sees, them,

My turn! I just loved decorating this CUTE little birdie house! I, too did some of it before assembly. I primed the wood with gesso, and then painted with acrylic paint. The roof is made from "shingles" with apron lace edges! and I used some ribbon from the kit to hang it. My 14 yo ds did my pics for me! =)

I'M IN LOVE WITH THE APRIL IAAS KIT!

My name is Debbie - I'm part of the Design Team here at IAAS. The IAAS April kit is just so much fun! I got this precious little bird house with mine as well. First I painted the entire little house which luckily someone told me to do before I started. Makes it so much easier! I used the Friskars Apron Lace punch to do the edging. I embossed a piece of the patterned paper for my roof and then used one of the die cuts (which I punched a hole in) to frame the little opening on the birdhouse. Finally I added a couple of the little die cut birds and a piece of the ribbon to finish it out.

This kit is perfect for for making quick yet great looking titles. So many great die cuts come from this kit that all you need to do is add a little adhesive or a few pop dots for a dimension and you have the perfect title!

This really makes for great looking LO but also very easy titles!

NO, NO! I didn't say that, it was the PAPER talking! ;) Considering the fun, yummy new border punch that was in the kit, I couldn't resist doing a post on punches. So, I first used the Apron Lace punch to frame the whole layout, then used some other border punches from my collection. It was lots of fun and I sure enjoyed using them! Hope you enjoy the results! =)

Embellishment Heaven

I think I've died and gone to embellishment heaven this month! Crate Paper die cuts, blingy blossoms, yummy trims & ribbon , buttons and Thickers. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does! The Maya Road journal stamp is the icing on the cake.

I wanted to show you a layout that I created with this kit:

I loved the turquoise ribbon so much, I decided to give it some special treatment. Using a running stitch, I gathered it into a circle and layered it with a die cut and a flower:

The Maya Road stamp is fabulous. It stamps a crisp image and creates a perfect little journal spot. I stamped my image onto blue cardstock and cut it out to add to my page.

Let's talk about the die cuts. I used SIX on this page. Can you spot them?
I cut apart the turquoise We R Memory Keepers trim and used it to embellish the bird atop my journaling spot:

Cutest little birdhouse evah!!!

The May Therapy kit contains the cutest little birdhouse... I mean look at this thing:

I first sanded all my pieces with a fine grit paper.
I then painted all the pieces white.
I then decided what coordinating paint color I wanted to use...in this case a light blue. I painted the back (which is not in the photo) and the perch with that paint.
I decided that I wanted my perch to be a bit shorter; so I sawed it a bit in the garage, resanded it and then repainted it...so mine is a bit shorter by like 2 inches.
I then covered the front with the cute birdhouse Crate pattern paper from the Kit.
I then used a circle punch and two of the pattern papers to create the shingle look for my roof.
I used the same red/white pattern paper for the side bottoms.
I then assembled my birdhouse; using the included nails for all but the roof. I used Helmar 450 glue for my roof since I needed to have it hold exactly right and I was not doing such a great job with the hammer and nails.
I added some yellow trim from my stash to the roof line.
I added the little birdie from my stash too...I covered him with a scrap left over from the roof...and used a brad for his eye.

Wow I'm am so thrilled to get my kit this month. The papers came in a little late so we are just getting rolling on them but with this kit I imagine we will all be scrapping away. This kit is just packed full of all kinds of goodies - the new Crate Papers Lillian collection, lots of pretty ribbons, felt goodies, buttons, flowers and chipboard. I've already got all kinds of ideas running around in my head for this and can't wait to get started. I can't say enough about this wonderful Design Team and the awesome kits that Holly and Lynn have put together for us. Using the Petticoat paper as a mask

For a few cards I have made using the March kit I decided to use a piece of the Petticoat paper as a mask for my cardstock base.
Here are the steps to follow to create this type of background.
I am going to show you first on white paper so you can see the images clearly; then my final card uses brown cardstock.
I like to use Colorbox chalk inks because they are small enough to manipulate along the edge of the paper. You push the ink pad into the petticoat paper along the edge and inside designs.

Once you have gone along the edge and inside, you can then move the paper to look at your image; if you want it to be darker you can easily line up the image and repeat until the desired color is achieved.

I wanted to use brown on brown for my card, I repeated the masking down the entire piece of brown cardstock:

I then flipped the petticoat paper over and adhered it to the front of my card. I added a strip of the blue pattern paper to the center. I used Helmar Scrapdots adhesive below the center flower and added the small curled strips of the Daisy Bucket ribbon while the adhesive was drying. I next added some of the Glitz pearls to the center of the Imaginisce flower. I then covered one of the Maya Road tickets with white cardstock from my stash and inked the edges. I used the same ink around the edge of my entire card. I finished the card with a rubon from my stash on the top of the chipboard ticket.

I hope you will give masking a try...it is a fun way to give plain cardstock a fresh new look.

Can the March kit be any funner?!?!

I'm just loving all of the cute embellies in the March kit!! They go so well with Amy Teets' papers! The "lighthearted' paper from Amy's Fresh line is my favorite, so I wanted to have as much of it showing as I could on my layout. To help my pictures pop against the grid, I inked a freehand "frame" around them with some Colorbox ink from a previous IAAS kit.

I used the Dream Street Fresh rubon numbers to show the dates we were vacationing. For the title, I painted one of the tickets brown from the Maya Road Chipboard ticket key chain. Then I adhered the Friends license tag to the ticket. I used the "chain" from the key chain on my title piece too. The chain will not fit through the holes in the license plate - I had to come up with some creative cutting and glueing for this visual effect...LOL!

I love the glitz black and silver icing pearls in the Addict kit. I used mine to create a photo corner.

Then I punched out the majority of my chipboard wings from Maya Road, so the striped paper would show through. I painted the tips for fun! Not sure why I ended up putting the wings at my kiddos' feet...that's just where they fit. Guess it's cause the pictures seem so dreamy!

Frame it up...she says!
I thought this littl frame would make the cutest little welcome sign for my fron tdoor this Spring. I also added my Add On Chipboad from my Feb. kit.

Products used:
Feb. & March Add on kit from Kaiser and buzz and Bloom.
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
Stitched Making memories Ribbon
Prima Flowers
Prima Bling
Martha Stewart Glitter
EK Success New scallop Punch

Brief Instructions:
1) Add spray adhesive to the frame and sprinkle with glitter. Let dry.
2) Trim out paper for backing of frame and add scallops.
3) Add additional embellishments, let dry.
4) Stamp chipboard with word stamps and highlight with Stickles.
5) Glue chipboard to back of frame. let Dry.
6) Add hints of Stickles to the final product for glitter accents.

Another look at this month's buttons

There are some really great chipboard buttons in this month's kit... Elizabeth showed you one way to use them, Lynda another, and now it's my turn! I wanted to to offer you a different way of using them, and when I was looking at my buttons, all of a sudden... I kid you not... one of them yelled " EARRINGS!" to me! ;) Added a little Maya Road chipboard from the kit, and WAH LAH!

I painted the "cloverleaf" button with a very shiny dimensional paint, in a circle pattern around each hole. Then I added little pink jewels with glossy accents. The heart is Maya Road chipboard, also from the kit. Just FYI, I also painted the back.

What would earrings be without a companion necklace? The pendant started out as the Maya Road "tag" on the ticket mini from the kit. AH HA! Wondered what you would do with that, didn't you? ;) I painted it with acrylic paint to match the heart dangles of the earrings, the back too, and then covered it with glossy accents. While the glossy accents was wet, I placed another MR heart (already painted) where I wanted it, and added a jewel.

I had alot of fun making this set, and am going to give it to my sister as a gift for her twin daughters' baptism.

This month's kit has the most adorable paper ribbon from Daisy Bucket!! The possibilities for creativity here are endless!
Chocolate and chocolate polka dot ribbons are the varieties that come in the March kit. YUMMY!

I used my ribbon to create flower stems on this layout. I secured the ribbon under the flower with a small brad and glued the other end under my journaling block.

I can't wait to used the rest of my ribbon on my next layout! TFL!!

The new smooches ink from Clearsnap is amazing! The March Little Pill kit included a variety of colors and they went FAST! Here's a peek for you...

This month's Therapy kit included the white Clearnsnap Smooches ink. Elizabeth, Beth and Mimi have shown several creative ways to use this product in the following projects.

Beth used several different colors of the Smooches ink to accent the edges of her homemade embellies! She also used the green Smooches to place accent dots all through the layout, bringing her color scheme together....WOW!

And I just love the "trail" Mimi made for her butterfly with the Smooches on this card! Notice how she added even more at the bottom right! Adorable!

Therapy kit frame project

The March Therapy kit comes with this wonderful Kaiser Beyond the Page MDF Accordian Frame. I wanted to share with you a fun project that you can create with the items included in the kit and a few extras that you may have in your craft room.

For the first step you'll need to separate the fram pieces...I used a pair of scissors. You could use an Xacto knife as well.

For the next step I used a white base paint and painted all the surfaces of the frames.

Be sure to paint inside the opening as well...

Once your frame is dry, cover each piece with pattern paper. Trim your paper as close as you can and then use sand paper to lightly sand the edges smooth.

You'll also need to trim the pattern paper from the center of each frame.

I next decorated each frame front using small strung pearls. I used Helmar 450 Adhesive to secure the beads to my frames.

Next, you'll need to decide how you want to use your frame....for my example I decided to hang two rows of three frames together. To attach the frames to eachother run a strip of ribbon along both sides securing with glue. I used the same Helmar adhesive to secure my ribbon to my project.

I then decided that I was going to use the cute stamps that are also in the Therapy kit (and a few that I had in my own collection) in a few of the frames. I stamped the images onto cardstock and used Prismacolor pencils to color in the images.

To hang my frames, I decided to use a small dowl. I added ribbon loops at the top of my frames. I decorated my dowel with the same beads I used on my frames and then slid the dowel through the loops. I attached one of the included flourish borders to my dowel in the center.

Here is my final frame...I haven't decided where to hang it yet, so for now it is hanging on my sliding glass door...

Do you see the buttons on my frame? I covered a few of the included Scenic Route chipboard buttons with pieces of coordinating pattern paper using a glue stick. I trimmed each one close with scissors and then sanded the edges to get a nice finished look. I then added some floss to the center of each for a little added detail.

I hope you'll considering making something fun with your frame in the Therapy kit!

License Plate Tag

Wow this kit was just full of goodies. First of all the wonderful patterned papers of Amy Teet's that Dream Street is putting out. Also included was this adorable little family license plate tag. As soon as I saw it I thought of this picture I had taken of two of my daughter's and my granddaughter. Now that I have all my children and my grandchildren back in Texas pictures like this are a little easier to come by. Also included in the kit was this cute little stamp from Imaginisce which worked just perfect with my "family" theme. I used some of my new Smooch paints to accent the stamp leaves and then also added a little heart to my love tag painted with the new Smooch paints. I LOVE them - they dry quick and are so easy to apply.

Hope you are all enjoying all the goodies in this kit and are having as much fun with it as I am.

Buttons.. Buttons...

Who's got the buttons?
This months kits had these cool little buttons in them.
They are from Scenic Route!
These chipboard buttons are totally fun
because you can do anything to these chipboard pieces to fit them to your desires!

I chose to just make them regular buttons for this layout posted here!
I know that you can get really creative and crafty using them, but
you can always remember to use them as buttons too!
I chose to ink mine so that they would stand out
and match the cool kit supplies I used!

Here is a close up of the first button that I used! I loved putting it for the petal center of my flower! Then I used DMC floss to accent the button as well!

Again, I used the same technique with the buttons here by inking them and then using them for the center of my petal. I also used DMC floss with this button as well!

Remember to have fun with your chipboard buttons doing all kinds of things with them! And also remember that you don't have to get overly creative either, you can just do what I did and use them as petal centers!

But have fun with them as buttons are everyone's favorite!

March 2009 Kit

With spring on the way, Dream Street Papers Fresh line by Amy Teets is the perfect paper for March. Oh and the coordinating rub-ons are very cool. You'll love 'em. The SEI Petticoat borders are fun and so easy to use as is or to alter. Maya Road has come out with some new chipboard sheets. Try curling the ribbons from Daisy Bucket. It can be distressed, curled, shredded, stamped, printed on, and painted. They are amazingly versatile. Let your imagination soar.

Love love love the new Picket Fence color in Ranger's Distress Crackle Paint line! Try painting the Maya Road Chipboard Wings with it or the Kaiser Wooden Flourishes -you won't be sorry. Now the new license plates from Karen Foster Designs are just too cute. The size and colors make them so easy to use.

Have you heard about the new Smooch line from Clearsnap? This new product is incredibly fun. Wait until you try this. Again, use it on the Maya Road chipboard wings or to highlight the stamp images. Let me suggest stamping the Scenic Route Chipboard Buttons with a stamp and then highlighting the imagine with Smooch to create your own buttons.

Adding dimension with PP...

A simple way to add dimension to a LO is to simply cut slits in a strip of pattern paper and rolll the edges with a pencil. There are so many ways to add texture to your LO's using PP, be sure to scroll back through the blog for more DT ideas.

February Sketch #2

We chose another sketch from Pencil Lines this month to inspire you! This fun, whimsical sketch goes great with the February kit. The girls blew me away with their creative uses of the butterflies in this month kit! Check out this eye candy!

I love how Debbie used the coordinating butterflies to draw your eye around her focal point! And did you see her stencil work behind the butterflies? Beautiful!! I'm just loving how everything came together on this one Debbie!

I love what Sandi created for the circle embellishment! How stinkin' creative is that?! Also, the creative used of stickles on the butterflies just pulls everything together and makes this layout POP!

Elizabeth did something totally different with the sketch by turning the focal point into a 3-picture spread across the layout - how cool! I love how the patterned paper behind her photos break ups the layout and draws your eye to the embellies. The layout and the pictures are both "beautiful"!

Creating some whimsy

In addition to the fabulous Jillibean Soup papers, this month's kit features a sweet birdie acrylic stamp by Imaginisce. He just makes me smile. So I decided to create a card that was as whimsical as the little guy.
I started by stamping him onto some Kraft paper and cutting the image out.
I tore some Lemon Juice paper to create a hill then added a tree created with some punched circles from the Portobello paperd. The tree was embellished with some of the Candy Dots included in the kit. Then I pop dotted my little bird and added a butterfly from the kit to be his friend. A little penwork, and voila! A cute whimsical card that should make someone smile.

Fun with the beaded curtains...

I looked at the beaded curtains from Buzz and Bloom included in the kit for quite some time...deciding exactly what I wanted to create using these unique pieces...
I decided to first change the color of the piece, so I covered the entire length with Colorbox chalk ink.

I repeated this for my second piece as well. I then cut all the small pieces apart.
I decided to create a flower from the trimmed pieces. I threaded some string through a button from my stash and added it to the center of my flower. I used one of the rubons from the kit on a piece of the scrap cardstock; adding the darker cardstock from my stash; which I embossed using the Swiss dots Cuttlebug template.

I challenge you to think outside the box and look at what you might be able to create from these beaded curtains!

A Twist on the Feburary IAAS Member's Kit

Little boys and their dreams.......their dreams of being NBA players, Rock stars or even bankers, as mine would say. What a combination.

Funny how things inspire you, but when I saw this month's little chicks on the fun Jillibean papers, this journaling piece just called to me. "Chicks dig us." I know, kind of silly, but meeting the Celtic's Rajon Rhondo was a life changing experience for my son and inspired him to want to be a NBA basketball player. He went to his basketball camp in Louisville and Rajon was there everyday to hang out with the kids. Gav saw him hanging out with his family, friends, and little baby girl. His dream was living a reality that we never see on television. We all have dreams, his just seemed to get a little closer when he actually could reach out and touch the man. Gav told me that girls always like the NBA players and he thought that was cool. So.....the Layout Rajon and Gavin...."Chicks dig us," transpired. I hope you enjoyed the giggle!

Get those photos out and scrap em' girls. What kind of dreamy dream do you have girls? Get those thoughts onto paper! Goals are worth preserving so you can re-visit them when you need to be reminded of why you do the things you do.

Buzz and Bloom Mini album!

OK, first of all let me say this is one COOL album! Very cute and I love the quality of the chipboard!!!
Next, let me say I am not a mini album expert, but here is mine! I did have alot of fun doing it! and I hope you enjoy! :)

Need the perfect embellishment...

cut it from your pattern paper! With the economy in bad shape we are all doing what we can to save money. What better way than to use what you have to make the perfect embellishment. February kit is filled with all these great papers that make it so darn easy to make your own embellishments.

In this layout I simply cut out a few of the butterflies from the pattern paper. Bend them slightly in the center and add a few glue dots underneath for the perfect matching embellishment.

For this layout I simply cut several circles in various sizes out of the patterned paper then added a brad to the center. With a little ink and some distressing they add so much dimension to any layout. I love the look of these flowers and they match perfectly not to mention the price is right!
